Paradigm shift: Defining and designing world-class education

By Yong Zhao
Price: $35.91

Prof Yong Zhao summarises, adapts and updates themes developed in his 2012 book World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students. He argues that today’s education is inadequate for preparing tomorrow’s citizens, with curricula commonly standardised to fit international tests, and an employee-oriented paradigm of education that is outdated and inflexible, in an age when creativity and entrepreneurship are increasingly in demand. He outlines a new paradigm of entrepreneur-oriented education, which he believes is needed if we are to achieve world-class schooling, and concludes that fundamentally his paper is about respecting children as human beings; and about supporting, not suppressing, their passion, curiosity and talent.
