PROGRAM DETAILS

Dive into Deep Learning: Tools of Engagement

If we want students who can thrive in complex, turbulent times, apply thinking to new situations and change the world we must reimagine learning: what’s important to be learned, how learning is fostered, where learning occurs and how we measure new outcomes. We call this Deep Learning.

This highly interactive workshop will examine a framework for deep learning that provides a pathway to develop the six global competencies needed to flourish in a complex world- character, citizenship, collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking global competencies- the 6Cs that foster all students to thrive in complex times

Participants will leave with concrete tools, resources and strategies for unleashing the capabilities of their students and schools:

  • Learn how to tackle equity and academic excellence simultaneously

  • Understand the Deep Learning Framework and tools

  • Explore the six global competencies and practical ways to engage all students

  • Apply Deep Learning Progressions to measure growth in the competencies

  • Examine four elements that foster the design of deep learning tasks

  • Assess School conditions that foster deep learning

Participants will leave with a tool kit of resources and an advance copy of Dive into Deep Learning: Tools of Engagement (2020) - Joanne Quinn, Michael Fullan, Joanne McEachen, Mag Gardner, Max Drummy
